Drag Racing

This form of Motorsports Racing is without a doubt my favorite. The first time I saw Top Fuel racing was in the early 60's at a track in NJ. A little comparison here, back then a dragster ran the quarter mile in the mid 8 seconds at speeds around 185 mph. Today they cover the distance in 4.5 seconds with speeds well over 300 mph. Now that has to be a rush. If you have never experienced the roar and smell of Top Fuel racing, you might be missing one of lifes thrills.

This section of my site is dedicated to the good times I have experienced in Drag Racing, with friends, and associates.

Walsh Racing

I have a personal friend who deserves a spotlight when it comes to Drag Racing, he is Bill Walsh. In his novice year of 1983, he finished number 2 in the points standings. In the years 1984 through 1986 he dominated the Top Alcohol Dragster class in the NHRA reigneing as World Champion. This achievement has yet to be accomplished by any other driver in this field. Bill also held the low elapse time record of 6.33 seconds at 223 mph. for awhile. To quote a National Dragster article, Can Anyone Stop This Guy.

Walsh, who was sole owner/driver of the car, pulled out of the Alcohol field in 1987 to take up the position of Test Driver and Crewman in the Amato racing camp. Bill drove the teams second car, as a blocker, in certain national events. He was the first to go over 320 mph in a Top Fuel car, 322 to be exact, this was done in testing and is unofficial of course. As of 2000 Walsh is no longer with the Amato team. He is presently back at his original trade, Plumbing & Heating.
